Possibly, but tell your clinician first. Testosterone therapy lowers sperm production, so if you want children now or soon, it may not be the right choice, and your clinician will factor that in.
Why does testosterone affect sperm?
When you take testosterone, your brain signals the testes to make less of their own testosterone and fewer sperm. For many men this reduces fertility while on treatment. How much, and how it changes after stopping, varies from person to person.
What will the clinician ask?
- Whether you want children, and when
- Any past fertility testing or treatment
- Your lab results and symptoms
Medications our clinician network may consider for TRT include testosterone cypionate, anastrozole, hCG. Your clinician decides what, if anything, fits your plans. Some men are referred to a fertility specialist instead.
